Coffee & Books
Example: Ordered without pointing
After class I didn’t head to the station. I just kept walking down the street behind the school. Two corners later: a kissaten where nobody has changed a thing in decades. Dark wood, a loudly ticking clock, and behind the counter an older man pouring every coffee by hand.

I ordered in Japanese. All of it, without pointing at the menu. He nodded and said nothing. I’m counting that as a win.
Then an hour of reading, far too slow, with the dictionary open on my phone. Kanji test tomorrow. I’m still sitting here.
